High Waisted Jean Shorts DIY – Studding
Posted: August 2, 2012 Filed under: diy, fashion | Tags: diy, diy shorts, high waisted shorts, levis, studding shorts, studs Leave a commentI’ve been working on this project for a while and I finally started on it. I bought a pair of high waisted levis shorts from a local thrift store about a month ago and then I’ve been ordering and waiting for studs all month from online. I bought a set of 8mms with flat backs from an etsy store to diy a phone case and then I realized 8mms is really small and so I started shopping around on ebay for 10mms and 12mms and I realized it’s so much cheaper than from etsy.
Here’s the little container I’ve been using to put my studs in.
I got them in sets of 100 studs which sounds like a lot but after this project I know it’s not that much. It took most of my 12mms to just do the pocket and down one side.
I started out studding the left pocket.
I was going to do the other one too but I realized I wouldn’t have enough for both pockets so I decided to just do a line down the other side.
And here’s the finished studded look.
I still have to distress it and maybe do some bleaching and fraying but I’ve learned a lot from my first studding experience. I know now that I need a lot more studs and bigger studs if I don’t want to sit there forever studding. I have three pairs of shorts that I will be studding next but I have to bleach them first because they’re darker than I like and then I will do some more studding. I’m also going to order bigger studs for those shorts. I will do another post when I do my next ones!
Haul, Broken & All – Beauty & Extras
Posted: August 2, 2012 Filed under: Makeup, Recent Purchases | Tags: beauty haul, haul, mac snob, makeup, nars, nars schiap, target, target haul Leave a commentI did do a bit of beauty damage as well but again, a lot of this was with coupons or on sale or both. I stopped by Ulta and picked up some polishes on sale.
First is my favorite of the set, Neo whimsical from Essie.
This is the most beautiful muted grey purple pink color I’ve ever seen.
Next is Revlon’s Sheer Seafoam.
I should’ve realized from the name that it would be completely sheer but it’s so beautiful in the bottle that I didn’t even think about buying it until I got home and swatched it. It’s disappointing because if it wasn’t sheer it would be such a cute summer color!
Next I got this cute fall green color in Don’t Mess With OPI.
It’s quite a nice fall green color and the formula is pretty good. I haven’t worn it besides swatching yet.
Then I picked up this red from Essie in Red Nouveau.
It’s like a tomato red. I don’t have too many reds so I decided to add this to my collection.
I got this Revlon one in Blue Lagoon.
I’ve been hunting for light blues all summer and have for the most part been disappointed with the formulas. This one had a pretty chunky formula as well so I don’t know what’s up with these light blues but I’m still hunting.
Lastly from that set, I picked up this pop beauty one in mint magic.
This one is crazy bright! I have plenty of mint polishes but this one is definitely different because it’s so bright as opposed to being a muted or light mint color. The formula though is really bad. It’s gunky and sticky but I’m willing to deal with it because I love the color so much!
I also picked up these two but I returned the Loreal one on the right because it looks nothing like in the bottle.
I kept the Essie one in fiji because it’s such a cute light almost white pink color.
And then I found Essie A crewed interest on sale.
Lastly for nails I picked up these three Nabi ones from a boutique. They’re only $1 each!
The bright neon green and pink are so cute! I haven’t tried the blue yet but I will soon!
I also picked up a few lipsticks. First is this Tarina Tarantino one in Candy Jar.
It’s like this bright candy pink that’s almost reminiscent of an 80’s lipstick shade because it’s got some purple undertones.
I picked up another Nars Schiap because I lost my original one and I just couldn’t not have it so I picked up a replacement.
I got Mac’s Snob.
I’m so-so on this because it’s pretty unwearable on it’s own unless I’m going out at night and doing a crazy dark smokey eye. During the day it needs to be mixed with something else on top or under it.
I also ordered this Stila Lip Enamel in Giggle from ebay.
It’s crazy bright pink and I love it!
And then my sister came home from Japan and brought back this super cute baby pink lipstick for me!
It looks washed out here but in person it’s a true baby pink with coral undertones.
Moving along, I jumped on the bandwagon and picked up the new Revlon Whipped foundation but only because I got an awesome $2 coupon.
I got it in Natural tan and it’s pretty much a perfect match because I got so dark from pontooning. I actually like this much better than the normal revlon colorstay foundations because this looks the same and has the same staying power but this feels so much lighter and better on your skin and it doesn’t have that same super fragrant smell.
I picked up a sonial kashuk brush, again with some coupons.
This one is so unique. I have nothing like it. It’s supposed to be for contouring but I’m using it for highlighting and it works just fine.
I also picked up a bunch of random things from Target because I had some really good coupons last month that were going to expire.
I’ve been wanting this cosmetic bag since forever because I love the red and purple stripes.
I also got these little organizer things from the dollar section at target to organize my chunky rings.
And some hair clippies.
I’m always losing these little guys.
I also picked up some really random stuff I thought I would share.
^these are my HG puffs because they’re sealed completely at the sides so no matter how soaked it gets, it doesn’t expand and come apart. It’s expensive though, $5 for 100.
I’m trying a different contact solution.
I usually use Target’s Generic one but last year when I bought new contacts my store gave me a sample of this Bio True one and I loved it so much because I remember it being so cool and crisp on my eyes but this bottle seems normal and almost the same as my Target one so I’m going back to Generic.
I’ve been buying a lot of studs online to diy shorts.
I’ve found that 10mms are too small and 12 is ok but I’m going to look for a size up.
I bought a car organizer that turns out to be too big for my trunk but’s ok because I plan to upgrade to SUV soon.
Since I’ve been doing my nails so much I got some polish remover and an eos balm.
I now remember why I stopped using EOS balms, they’re just inferior to my other balms. They only good thing about them is they’re cute.
I picked up this suit case from Marshalls.
I bought some tweezers from f21 to apply lashes.
I don’t like this, it feels really flimsy and it’s open too wide so holding them still while putting on lashes is really hard to do.
Picked up some goodies earlier from the Bath and body works sale.
I got a little makeup baggie from H&M in lime green zebra.
It’s the prefect size for my purse.
Picked up a beach towel.
It’s huge so I love it.
My little sister brought me this little blue headband from Japan.
And finally I picked up this doggie tray from Marshalls so I have a set at my house for my dog when she comes over.
And that’s it for my beauty and random stuff haul for July!
Haul, Broken Ban & All – Fashion & Jewelry
Posted: August 2, 2012 Filed under: fashion, shopping | Tags: Fashion, fashion haul, haul, shopping, style Leave a commentI was supposed to be on a shopping ban through mid July but after about two weeks I gave up. Also the number one motivation for my ban was because I was supposed to be saving up for a trip to Chicago but we decided not to go anymore so I just threw the ban out the window. So of course in my typical shopping fashion, here are my buys for the month of July. I had to break up the haul into two parts, fashion & beauty. First up is Fashion and Jewelry.
I picked up some tanks for my boyfriend for summer.
I picked up this lace type top from a local boutique
I’ve actually been looking for more of a white damask top but everytime I find one it’s a cropped style so I went with this one because it doesn’t quite look like lace so its still nice and summery.
I’ve been really into cut out shoulders lately so I picked up four from Forever21 but the sheer ones were extremely inexpensive at $13.50 each!
I got the sheer ones in nude, white, and black.
I also picked up two dresses, both around $12 each.
I picked up two semi-sheer blouses from H&M in pink and leopard.
I also picked up this cute white top from a boutique.
I picked up some thrift store shorts for diy-ing.
I got a really good deal on shoes as well!
I got all of these plus another pair from Gap for under $13!
I also found my perfect pair of nude pumps!
I have been searching for years now for a good pair that didn’t have an ugly front platform but that didn’t look like a work pair either.
I found some sandals from Target.
Since it’s summer, I found some great deals on swimsuits as well.
This set is from Target.
These are all on sale from Old Navy.
That’s all for clothes and shoes. I did pick up a few accessories as well. First is this cute over the shoulder bag from Forever21.
I just love this piece because it’s so simple and so chic.
And that’s it for the fashion part of the haul. It seems like a lot but I got almost all of it on sale or for really good prices!
Nails – July 2012
Posted: August 2, 2012 Filed under: Makeup | Tags: chinaglaze, essie play date, leopard nails, Nails, orly Leave a commentI painted my nails a lot this past month. I tried to change them every few days because I have so much nail polish I bought from April-June that I haven’t tried yet.
OPI nicki minaj I forgot the color, Orly Rage
Food Galore – July Eats

I love this culver’s mixer with heath bars.
Food from noodles, it was ok, nothing spectacular.
These are so yummy from Dennys!
Frozen yogurt is getting big here…finally!
Korean bbq night, always so yummy and full filling!
Breakfast with my boyfriend and sister!
I had a crazy chicken pad thai craze this past month.
I also went french toast crazy!
That’s all for food this past month but I will of course snap more food for August!
Outfits of the day & Looks of the day – July 2012
Posted: August 2, 2012 Filed under: look of the day, outfit of the day | Tags: Fashion, leopard print top, look of the day, makeup, outfit of the day, style Leave a commentI’ve also been collecting outfit and look pictures on my phone for the month of July. I don’t really like to do collective look posts like this but I’ve discovered it’s harder to blog from my phone than I thought. I’ll try to remember what I wore in each set.
top & jewelry from F21 / stila lip enamel in giggle
Maybellene tattoo in bad to the bronze
outfit from F21 / Nars lipstick in Schiap
top from a local boutique / shorts from hollister / jewelry F21
Recent Outings – Month of July
Posted: August 2, 2012 Filed under: Daily Outing | Tags: beach, bubbletea, fun, moon jump, pontooning, summer Leave a commentI’ve stalled my blogging for a while now but I did keep a pretty good photo account of everything I did this past month! This will just be a quick post to show you guys what’s been going on and that the midwest can be fun too!
This past month I attended a birthday at a Sushi place and they had the cutest cakes, I don’t even know where in our state they ordered them but I will definitely check it out next time I need a cake.
We also had a girl’s day out complete with bubble tea, the beach and food!
I did some reorganizing in my room.
I also spent some time at beach this past month!
And finally I went to a kid’s birthday party and couldn’t resist the moon jump!
It’s official, I’m on a Ban
Posted: June 26, 2012 Filed under: Uncategorized Leave a comment
About a week ago I decided to go on a month long ban. I realized that I’ve been shopping too much and so I set out to ban myself from not shopping from June 15 – July 15, the exeptions being food, Target, and thrifting, major coupons, major sales, returning stuff to buy other stuff, adding onto returned amounts to complete a purchase. Each time I really break the ban I will add another week.
Of course I’ve broken it already by buying Sonia Kashuk stuff, polish and using my Ulta 20% off coupon. Even though I allowed for these as exceptions in my rules (Target, major coupons,) I still feel like I broke my ban because I still shopped so to be fair I will add two more weeks in my ban but it will have to be staring the end of July, not right after July 15th because I will be going on a short vacation in between.
As far as clothes go though, I’m doing pretty well, no new money spent on clothes. Makeup wise I’m also doing well with the exception of nail polish. I’m working on that problem but again I will punish myself for further mishaps. Wish me luck!
Target Summer Beauty Bag
Posted: June 26, 2012 Filed under: Makeup | Tags: target summer beauty bag Leave a commentI got my bag today! I’m so excited but mostly about the bag itself because I’ve been looking for a tiny bag to stick into my purse for small bits of makeup and a mirror.
Here are the bag and the contents in it.
I’ve used both the sunblock and the tressame split remedy shampoo already but I haven’t tried the other products yet. I’m not super excited about them but they are geared towards colored hair and I recenly colored my hair so it’s actually good for me right now. As for the lip butter, I’ve found that they don’t work that well for me. They’re kind of crusty and come on really thickly on my lips but in an inconsistent way, not smoothly.
I’ll give these a go and see how I feel about them!
Recent Purchases – 6/26/12 baby Hauls
Posted: June 26, 2012 Filed under: fashion, Makeup, Recent Purchases, shopping | Tags: bikini so teeny, essie play date, essie polish, essie to buy or not to buy, haul, hauls, mojito madness, recent purchases, revlon charming swatch, shopping 1 CommentI’ve been collecting pictures of stuff I’ve hauled over the course of the past few weeks. I actually got a lot of this with coupons and sales so I’m super excited about that! First of all, as you know I’ve recently joined the Iphone train so I’ve made some ebay orders for covers. I think I bought 5 cases in total since I got my phone. They’ve been arriving every couple of days so I’ve snapped shots a few.
I gave this mint one to my sister but I love the rubberized feeling of it so I will probably order another one.
This is the one I’m currently using.
That little bow over the earphone jack is called a plug and it’s to protect dust from getting inside the headphone jack.
I’ve also been trying to diy some shorts so I’ve ordered a lot of studs in different sizes.
These are 8mm and they’re the only ones I’ve received so far. I got them off etsy but I’ve since learned that ebay is way cheaper.
I also picked up a few random things from Target.
I don’t know how I went for so long without a staple remover. My nails thank me.
I also got this cute little notebook to replace my old moleskin. I looked for ages for one without lines but I’ve given up and decided to go with this one.
It’s actually the perfect size, if only it didn’t have lines and the pages were thicker.
Sonia Kashuk’s summer stuff was on sale so I bought these two things with some coupons so they were super inexpensive.
I’ve been eyeing these brushes for a long time but didn’t pick them up because I have another old Sonia Kashuk brush set that have really hard bristles. Luckily these are a lot softer and better. I’m really glad I got this set because they’re all different brushes from what I already have.
I also used a coupon to get this beautiful brush.
It’s so different from my other brushes. It has a mix of plastic and boar bristles and it seems to smooth out hair as you brush it.
I also picked up some random stuff at the mall. First is a sweater that says drama queen.
A cute bracelet in a peachy pastel color.
And then I dropped by sephora to return something and got a sample and a set using 500 points.
I don’t like this moisturizer so far. It’s very fragrant.
I’ve tried this serum and moisturizer once but it’s an odd thick gel that’s a dark red color. It feels so odd to rub on my face. I don’t know how I feel about it.
I also picked up some lovely polishes again with an awesome target coupon that printed for me.
First, Mojito Madness:
It’s lighter in the bottle than on the nails. On the nails it’s not as bright but still very cute.
Next, Bikini so Teeny:
It’s like a periwinkle blue. It’s very cute and definitely has a purple undertone.
Next, I got one of the new maybelline ones in Fierce N Tangy:
I’ve been looking for an opaque yellow for so long and this one is just perfectly bright and opaque.
Next I have To Buy or Not to Buy
Sorry for the unclean swatch, I did these right after getting home. This color is one of my favorites! It’s a super light lilac purple.
Next I got Charming by Revlon.
I was trying to decide between this one and lilacism but I already got two essie ones at the time so I went with this one.
And lastly I got Play Date.
It’s a true purple but not too dark and not too light.
And lastly, I picked up this cute oversized clutch bag from the thrift store!
It’s perfect for summer!
That’s it for my haul this time around.
