[ ♡ ] Elf order – 12/24/10

Here’s just a quick post on my last elf order of the year. I saw these cute makeup bags on their website and couldn’t resist. I love how there is a separate compartment for brushes. I got two, one for me and one for my sister. I also needed to get two to get free shipping. They were $8 a piece. I got one in silver and one in black.

Here are some pictures of the silver one:

So far I’m liking it. It’s exactly the same size and concept as ecotools Alicia Silverstone bag and brush set but without the ugly grandma chic designs. I like plain, streamlined cases.

[ ♡ ] Upcoming orders – elf, stila, sephora

I know I was supposed to stop but I keep getting great coupons and discount codes so I’ve put in a few more orders. I have three orders coming to me soon from elf, stila and sephora.

First is Stila. When I did my first order during cyber Monday I bought two shadows without knowing they were only pans so when I found out they didn’t have a container, I went back online and ordered a 6 pan compact and four additional shadows (because I hate having a half empty palette.)

Then when I got my first Stila order, I realized I could’ve just taken the pans out of my talking palette and added them to this collection but by then it was already too late so basically I have four extra shadows coming.

I also did a 3rd elf order. I canceled my second brush set order and then went back and ordered these two signature makeup cases.

It was a good deal because I got free shipping.

My last order is from Sephora. I just ordered it today because I had a free gift card and 10% off coupon code that expires today. It was a $15 beauty insider giftcard and the coupon code was for becoming a VIB at Sephora. It just basically means I’ve spent a lot at sephora this year.

I got some very good stuff for only $36! I got a smashbox palette, sephora slim palette, l’occitane hand cream to try, and a lorac felt tip eyeliner. I’m really excited about the eyeliner because I’ve swatched it before at Ulta and it did not budge! It’s also in the brown I’m looking for.

Overall, I’m very excited for these to come. So far the Stila is the only one on the way but I’ll stalk my tracking numbers as soon as I get them!

At least I didnt purchase anything from Lorac, Tarte, or UD.

[ ♡ ] Elf Order in!

I finally got my elf order in after stalking my tracking number for a week (so really, it hasn’t been that long.) I ordered a few of the new elf mineral brushes during cyber Monday because it was 50% off and they looked nice online. I ordered two sets and two extra brushes (blender and lip brushes.) Here are some shots:

^the first set is a 5 piece set including a powder brush, lash comb, angled brush, and two flat shadow brushes (one might be a concealer brush.)

^The second set I got is a 4 piece mini set (the kabuki is missing from this picture.) It comes with a kabuki, a blender brush and a shadow brush.

^here’s the missing kabuki. As you can see, it is very thin, not dense at all.

^my blender brush

^the lip brush. I bought this for the lip pans in my tarte palette.

Now onto my assessment of the brushes. They look nice and are eco-friendly. Visually, they look like eco tools brushes. The elf claim that they are soft is true; the bristles are incredibly soft and nice on your skin. Now, the reality: I’m very disappointed with the majority of them because they are all on the thin side. None of them are as dense as they look and for the price you’re paying, should be denser. The biggest disappointment was the single blender brush. It’s so thin, I don’t think I’ll be able to use it. I can’t even swirl it around on my hand correctly. The pouches that come with the sets are also a disappointment but I already knew that so its not a big factor for me. The other disappointment was the kabuki brush. It is very small and very thin. It looks like a toy brush. I will probably toss that one.

I actually ordered a full set of the elf mineral brushes just a day before reciveing these in the mail because my little sister wanted some but as soon as I got these I canceled my 2nd elf order. These brushes are definitely not worth purchasing (least of all, a second time.) It’s sad because I’ve had good experiences with elf brushes before. I really like their basic blending brush and professional flat top brush. Hopefully they come out with better brushes next time.
