I’ve been working on this project for a while and I finally started on it. I bought a pair of high waisted levis shorts from a local thrift store about a month ago and then I’ve been ordering and waiting for studs all month from online. I bought a set of 8mms with flat backs from an etsy store to diy a phone case and then I realized 8mms is really small and so I started shopping around on ebay for 10mms and 12mms and I realized it’s so much cheaper than from etsy.
Here’s the little container I’ve been using to put my studs in.
I got them in sets of 100 studs which sounds like a lot but after this project I know it’s not that much. It took most of my 12mms to just do the pocket and down one side.
I still have to distress it and maybe do some bleaching and fraying but I’ve learned a lot from my first studding experience. I know now that I need a lot more studs and bigger studs if I don’t want to sit there forever studding. I have three pairs of shorts that I will be studding next but I have to bleach them first because they’re darker than I like and then I will do some more studding. I’m also going to order bigger studs for those shorts. I will do another post when I do my next ones!
I was supposed to be on a shopping ban through mid July but after about two weeks I gave up. Also the number one motivation for my ban was because I was supposed to be saving up for a trip to Chicago but we decided not to go anymore so I just threw the ban out the window. So of course in my typical shopping fashion, here are my buys for the month of July. I had to break up the haul into two parts, fashion & beauty. First up is Fashion and Jewelry.
I picked up this lace type top from a local boutique
I’ve actually been looking for more of a white damask top but everytime I find one it’s a cropped style so I went with this one because it doesn’t quite look like lace so its still nice and summery.
And that’s it for the fashion part of the haul. It seems like a lot but I got almost all of it on sale or for really good prices!
I’ve been collecting pictures of stuff I’ve hauled over the course of the past few weeks. I actually got a lot of this with coupons and sales so I’m super excited about that! First of all, as you know I’ve recently joined the Iphone train so I’ve made some ebay orders for covers. I think I bought 5 cases in total since I got my phone. They’ve been arriving every couple of days so I’ve snapped shots a few.
I gave this mint one to my sister but I love the rubberized feeling of it so I will probably order another one.
This is the one I’m currently using.
That little bow over the earphone jack is called a plug and it’s to protect dust from getting inside the headphone jack.
I’ve also been trying to diy some shorts so I’ve ordered a lot of studs in different sizes.
These are 8mm and they’re the only ones I’ve received so far. I got them off etsy but I’ve since learned that ebay is way cheaper.
I also got this cute little notebook to replace my old moleskin. I looked for ages for one without lines but I’ve given up and decided to go with this one.
It’s actually the perfect size, if only it didn’t have lines and the pages were thicker.
Sonia Kashuk’s summer stuff was on sale so I bought these two things with some coupons so they were super inexpensive.
I’ve been eyeing these brushes for a long time but didn’t pick them up because I have another old Sonia Kashuk brush set that have really hard bristles. Luckily these are a lot softer and better. I’m really glad I got this set because they’re all different brushes from what I already have.
That’s it for my haul this time around.
This past weekend was my boyfriends birthday so we ate a lot! But more on that later. We planned a full day out at the zoo and lake.
We woke up early to go the zoo to beat the rush and I’m so glad we did! I’ve never been to this zoo before so I was really excited to see what the hype was all about. It cost us $42 to get in which is probably why I’ve never been there before. My normal zoo is free.
We grabbed breakfast at MCDs which I hadn’t done in the longest time. It felt like a mini road trip eating mcd breakfast and driving out there with the wind in my hair!
Here’s what I wore.
top f21 | shorts AE | shoes LA | bag h&m
On my face I used all waterproof/swim stuff so that it wont melt off or come off after swimming later. I used loreal volumnous, etude waterproof liner, stila lip stain, stila bronzing gel.
Last week I dyed my hair but it didn’t turn out light enough so I’m going to try again this week. Here’s a shot of it, you can’t tell so well.
After it didn’t work out I did some googling and found this one which I will be using this week.
It’s supposed to be high lift so it should get my hair a lot lighter.
Last week there were two major storms and a lot of fallen trees. Here’s one I saw on my way to work.
That’s not even the worst cause it was in someone’s yard. The worst are the ones on the street that you can’t drive around.
I’m still not good at blogging often but with my phone I now take pictures of everything so I can keep a really good track of my activity to blog later on even if I can’t get to it right away. I know this is long over due so I’ll just get right into it.
I was going to buy her a camera for graduation but since she’s going to Japan next week I told her I would just double the amount of money I was going to give her to use in Japan. Overall it worked out nicely because I don’t have to worry about getting a gift and she gets extra cushion money for Japan just in case she wants to buy more.
And then later in the day I went fishing with my boyfriend and his brother and brother’s girlfriend. Well, I watched lol. Here’s Koko at the bait shop.
It was fun until it started getting really cold and rainy.
Here’s a quick outfit of the day, typical work wear.
Sears tank | f21 cardi | target belt | skirt unknown
Mufe HD foundation in 125 | Maybellene color tattoo in bad to the bronze | Loreal Volumonous waterproof mascara
I picked up a few things this week, mainly makeup and accessories. I’ll start with the non makeup stuff and then move into beauty items.
First I picked up this pair of shoes from F21.
It’s a lot more comfortable than it looks. Most of the shoe is on a platform and the arch is actually pretty low so I can see myself walking around on a night out with these.
I dropped by this boutique that uses the “always 50% off” gimmick not expecting to find anything and of course I walked out with my favorite buys of the week!
I have been looking for sideways cross jewelry for so long! I’ve only been able to find it online on etsy and random european websites but finally I found some. My least favorite piece is the necklace because the cross is shaped a little oddly and it’s bigger than I like. I really love the dainty silver bracelet and how nicely it sits on my wrist. I can’t believe I found these in a local store!
Next I picked up a pair of sort of cat eye shapped sunglasses.
I’ve now realized that aviator shaped frames fit my face best because of my high fat cheek bones. Big frames won’t sit on my face and instead make me look extra puffy.
From Forever21 I also picked up two bracelets and a necklace.
I saw this pink chord bracelet online and almost ordered it but I didn’t and I was happy to find it in store. It’s less cute in person and I’m not huge on the actual material of the pink chord. It seems kind of weak.
I picked up this gold pyramid/chain one because I think it’s so interesting. I love that it’s not all pyramid because it creates a different look and can stand alone better than a pyramid bracelet.
And I just picked up this necklace because I loved how it looked with my outfit that day 🙂
Now moving on to beauty related items.
I got two drug store pieces. First my boyfriend got me one of the new Revlon balm stains in Cherish.
It’s a purply pink color and it feels like a balm. I don’t think it actually stains your lips though but it’s a nice color. For some reason it seems shimmery when I wear it.
I picked up a piece from the Mac Beth Ditto collection and it’s of course the fushia lipstick in Dear Diary.
I don’t love these pro long wear lip cremes as much as the regular lipsticks because these are really creamy. They remind me of the YSL Rouge Volupte where the product is not quite hard. It slides really easily and if you’re not careful you can swipe a chunk of lipstick off. The color though is amazing! It’s brighter than girl about town and more purple than NARS Schiap.
And then I went to the outlet with my boyfriend and picked up a few more items. I got a lipglass in astro cool.
It looks silver but it’s actually lavender tone with purple glitters. I just thought it was unique and interesting.
And then I picked up some other stuff. I got a tarte lipsurgence in charmed.
It’s a bright bubblegum pink. It’s my first lipsurgence and I was actually inspired to try it because of my new revlon balm stain. It feels really good but I don’t like lip products that are more sheer and requires more coats. I really prefer lipstick products that are not too slippery.
I also got another MUFE in 18.
I really like the formula on these. They’re not chunky and ultra creamy like the YSLs but they’re not as thick as MAC lipsticks. They’re a perfect formula. They are pigmented and the perfect creamy consistency.
That’s it for my haul this time around.
Today I went outlet shopping with my boyfriend and it was extremely hot outside!
We tried eating at this new place and we just beat the rush in time. As we were leaving people were in line out the door. The entrance has this great koi fish pond and hall around the room that makes it seem like you’re standing on a bridge over water and the pond goes under you.
